Cornwall-on-Hudson — Join the Museum of the Hudson Highlands on Thursday, Feb. 1, at 7:30 p.m. at Painter’s Tavern, Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson, for the Winter Evening Speakers Series: “The $64 Tomato.” Come join William Alexander, Cornwall resident and author of the best seller, “The $64 Tomato: How One Man Nearly Lost His Sanity Spent a Fortune, and Endured an Existential Crisis in the Quest for the Perfect Garden.” Alexander will share his story, which Hudson Valley Magazine calls “highly amusing and informative in the be-careful-what-you-wish-for vein. Along the way, Alexander, battles recalcitrant bulldozers, ravenous tent caterpillars, tenacious groundhogs and the bane of all gardeners-weeds that just won’t quit.” The New York Times said, “His writing is engaging, well-placed and informative.” Copies will be on sale and Alexander will be signing them. All events take place at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays, at Painter’s Tavern, Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson. Seating is limited, so arrive early. General admission $7, Museum members $4.
