Sugar Loaf — Bertoni Gallery will present the exhibit of “The Man and his Roots” from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday through Sunday, or by appointment, from August 3 to Oct. 1. The opening reception for the collection of pieces from Jacinthe Battaglino, Livan Castro, and L’OR, Louise Rouleau, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 5. Battaglino, a printmaker of lithography who lives in Warwick, contributes her series of the “Black Dirt Region,” a vivid interpretation of the agricultural fields using lithographic inks. Each print is an original. Castro, a painter and sculptor of Cuban origin, expresses his art through the Afro-Cuban culture. Using industrial medium and mixed techniques, he presents a diversity of artworks. L’OR, Louise P. Rouleau, is a signature member of the Pastel Society of Eastern Canada. She offers an emotive dimension of the human form with symbolic subtlety, through her presentation of pastel on canvas. The gallery is located at 1392 Kings Highway in Sugar Loaf.
