The legend begins - Air Pirates Radio to hold auditions

    Sugar Loaf — The Air Pirates Radio Theater is holding auditions for its second season from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, at the Orange County Citizens Foundation in Sugar Loaf. Air Pirates mixes live contemporary interactive theater with old-time radio drama. Roles are available for both men and women. To make an schedule an audition call 469-7463. This season begins in May includes five original plays written for the Air Pirates: Herb Marks Freelance, “Art by the Numbers,” on May 17; Los Tres Balceneros, “The Legend Begins,” on June 21; Herb Marks Freelance, “All Fortunes Are Not Found in Cookies,” on July 19; Los Tres Balceneros, “They Ride Like the Purple Sage,” on Aug. 15; and Space Cadet, “Take Us to Your Lender,” on Sept. 20. Performances will be at the Pavilion at the Lycian Centre for the Performing Arts in Sugar Loaf. Tickets are $15 for each show or $50 for the season. The Air Pirates perform the staged readings as if they were broadcasting live on the radio. Four to five actors portray all the characters in each episode while the audience is asked to produce all the sound effects. The live performances are recorded for future broadcasts on WTBQ 1110 a.m., 99.1 FM and at www.WTBQ.com on the Internet.
