The Irish have their day in Greenwood Lake this Sunday

    Greenwood Lake — The Mid-Hudson St. Patrick’s Parade Committee is holding an “Irish Day” in conjunction with its 30th annual St. Patrick’s Parade, from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday March 5, at the Greenwood Lake American Post # 1443 on Lakes Road in Greenwood Lake. Irish Day is a celebration of Irish culture, music and tradition. The musical portion of the day will feature two prominent Orange county groups, the “Chris Turpin Band,” and the “AOH Pipe Band.” Irish step-dancing will be offered by the Sheahan-Gormley School of Irish Dance. The master of ceremonies for the day will be Leo O’Grady of Chester, the first chairman of the parade committee, and a past Grand Marshal of the Mid-Hudson parade. The chairman of Irish Day is Pat Grennan of Warwick, a member of AOH Division One of Monroe. The 2006 Grand Marshal, Dennis P. Browne of Chester, will be on hand to make a short speech. Twelve Irish clubs from Orange County sponsor the Mid-Hudson St. Patrick’s Parade committee. The Irish Rose contest will be held on a different date and location. Admission is $7 per person.
