Warwick — The King of Rock and Roll still lives! Danny Vernon performed “The Illusion of Elvis” for a full house on June 26 at St. Stephen/St. Edwards School in Warwick. Vernon is a professional Elvis impersonator from the state of Washington. He has won various awards including the “Best Young Elvis” in Las Vegas Nevada. Performing regularly at various casinos and theatres, Vernon graciously agreed to perform a special show just for St. Stephen’s. The principal, Ms. Moccia and Father Michael welcomed the new idea of Lori Balacky. Through her friendship with Danny and their collaboration of ideas, the show was a resounding success. In the first segment of the show, Vernon appeared all in black with a shiny gold jacket singing the songs of the early stages of Elvis’s life. Vernon brought everyone in attendance — from life-long fans to curious first-timers — back to the early stages of Rock and Roll. When a break was needed for costume changes, the audience enjoyed wine, cheese, coffee and cake. When Vernon appeared again, he was dressed in a jewel studded turquoise outfit. He enjoyed his audience and everyone sang familiar songs together. The show continued longer than expected because Vernon was enjoying the audience too much to stop. During various songs and love ballads lucky members of the audience were given scarfs, teddy bears or leis. Vernon closed the show with a Gospel Ballad “How Great Thou Art.” The response from the crowd consisted of only one question “When is Danny coming back?” In his own words, “I loved performing for each and every one of you and I look forward to being back to Warwick real soon! Until then...thank you very much! I love you all!” Feel free to call Lori Balacky 845-651-3643 or log on to www.dannyvernon.com with any comments or to book Vernon for an upcoming event.
