Warwick — The Group of Nine are five plein air painters who have taken on the challenge of documenting towns and villages in the Hudson Valley and beyond. These artists have been seen painting on the streets, in parking spots and lots, along the roads and in parks. They are Bruce and Lita Thorne, Neil Granholm, Marylyn Vanderpool and Marge Morales and each artist approaches the project in his or her own unique style and point of view. This season found the group painting in smaller groups traveling out of the Hudson Valley painting a variety terrain but with the same goal of absorbing the local aura. Train stations to store fronts capturing the essence of the towns, this years towns range from Saranac Lake, Martha’s Vineyard, Bronxville and Warwick. These kindred spirits met while plein air painting with the Wallkill River School. They have a common bond of art, the great outdoors, joie de vive and a love of community. This season’s work can be seen at the Albert Wisner Public Library during November. Meet the artists on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
