GOSHEN — Think you make the best chili in the whole world? Well, now’s the time to find out.

(Well, maybe not in the whole world — but certainly in the area.)

It’s time again for the third annual Chili Challenge sponsored by the Mission Committee of the First Presbyterian Church in Goshen.

Entering your chili costs $25, but with that entry fee you are eligible to win a $50 cash prize for your category, a plaque telling the world that your chili is the best, and bragging rights.

For those who want to sample all the entries and vote for the best, the cost is $6. The cost includes chili and all the fixins’ — rice, corn bread, cheese, sour cream, and onions. Beverage and dessert are included, too.

Live entertainment will be provided by Evan Teatum and Friends.

All proceeds from the Chili Challenge will benefit PresbyBuild in Partnership with Habitat for Humanity, Newburgh.

The Chili Challenge will be held at the church's Fellowship Hall, 33 Park Place, Goshen, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25. Tickets may be purchased at the church office from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays, as well as at Joe Fix Its, James Murray Florist, and Liz’s Place in the village.

To enter your chili in one of the categories — individual, restaurant, or organization — call organizer Bill Keller at 294-5508.

There’s one rule to follow: you must be willing to eat your own chili!
