The Barrage brings its six fiddlers, two guitarists and drummer to Central Valley

International purveyors of high-octane’ fiddle music play elementary school on Wednesday, March 7 Central Valley - Barrage, whose performances are described as a high-octane fiddle-fest featuring an international, multi-talented cast performing an eclectic mix of music, song and dance, will appear Wednesday, March 7, at 7:30 p.m. at Central Valley Elementary School Auditorium. Speaking to the group’s energy and virtuosity, a reviewer for the Los Angeles Daily News offered this view after a Barrage show: “After an evening of performing jigs on rocket fuel, it’s no wonder that more than a few horse hairs snapped on their bows.” The concert at the elementary school is sponsored by the Monroe-Woodbury Music Boosters and is part of the Barrage Educational Outreach Program to inspire and excite young string players (and future string players), particularly in the school system. The group’s six violinists and vocalists, its drummer, bass player and guitarist offer up a diverse fusion of cultures, musical styles and performance vitality. The music of Barrage combines contemporary world music influences, layered vocal arrangements and modern beats and rhythms. Tickets are $15 for adults and $7 for students.
