NEW MILFORD — The appealing ambiance of The Grange restaurant, 1 Ryerson Road, just off Route 94 South, comes from the 1913 historic building's wood and brick interior and the many years it served as the Post Office in the hamlet of New Milford.
Utilizing the architecturally aesthetic space, the creative works of local artists are regularly found on display, both supporting the local art community as well as offering diners another feast for their eyes.
Landscapes by Warwick artist Heidi Lanino Bilezikian are now on display at The Grange through mid-May.
The most recent work of Bilezikian is a reflection of the landscape and fields of color, capturing the theme of Orange County's farmland and the beauty of the black dirt fields. Within each composition, Bilezikian strives to capture the color of her surrounding landscape near her Warwick home.
This new series, she explained, is a progression into a more vibrant and complex palette; created by pulling from the structure of the landscape, inspired by internal and external surroundings.
Most of the pieces in this series were painted plein-air; others were done in the studio, using her own sketches as inspiration for the finished work.
Bilezikian works on paper, canvas and ceramics. Her work has been exhibited throughout the United States and abroad and is represented in numerous private collections.
Bilezikian studied drawing and painting nationally as well as internationally and was an art director for L'Oréal. She is affiliated with a number of art organizations including the Warwick Summer Arts Festival, Warwick Life Drawing Group, Orange County Arts Council, Amity Arts Ceramics and Warwick Art League.
The Grange, a farm-to-table restaurant, which frequently plays host to art exhibits showcasing a variety of local artwork, welcomes patrons to bring their own.
