WARWICK — This March the Albert Wisner Public Library hosts three art exhibits featuring the work of local artists and offers opportunities to meet these artists and learn about their creative processes.
• Drawing with Robert Wright on Saturday, March 3, at 10 a.m.
Local artist Robert Wright will demonstrate his technique for creating large bold drawings.
The process is accessible to anyone and need not be complicated and the materials are simple and basic.
The artist calls this technique universal drawing because the themes are polycultural and based on world art, dating back to the paleolithic era.
To attend this program, register at albertwisnerlibrary.org or call 986-1047 ext. 5.
•"Hurt of the Atlantic," graphic art by Roger Dowd on Saturday, March 10, at 2 p.m.
“Hurt of the Antarctic” is part one of a work of historical fiction and fantasy presented in graphic form. It tells the story of Edward Aaron Hurt, a nineteenth century explorer who led an adventure-filled expedition to the Antarctic Circle in 1883.
Twenty fabricated “artifacts” comprised of drawings, paintings, constructions and photographs of dioramas form the body of the work on display.
Captions and text associated with each piece provide the narrative thread of the exhibit.
Graphic artist Roger Dowd will discuss the techniques he used to create the artifacts included in the exhibit.
Visit albertwisnerlibrary.org to register to attend this program.
• St. James Camera Club
The St. James Camera Club of Goshen presents an exhibit of the best photographs produced by the members over the past year.
Meet the photographers at an opening reception on Sunday, March 11, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Library’s Community Room.
• "Windows and Mirrors," community art exhibit
More than 40 artists provide their artistic interpretation of the theme "Windows and Mirrors." The exhibit includes oils, watercolors, photography, mixed media, and stained glass.
Join the artists on Friday, March 16, from 5:30 to 7:45 p.m. for a Meet the Artists Reception in the Board Room.
Refreshments will be served.
