The alumnus and his art

POUGHKEEPSIE — Painter, print maker and collage artist Jonathan Talbot of Warwick kicks off the Oakwood Art lecture series next Friday, Sept. 27, at the Oakwood Friends School in Poughkeepsie. He graduated from Oakwood Friends in 1957.
During this interactive lecture-demonstration, Talbot will involve the audience in exploring appropriation in the fine arts and demonstrate some of the innovative techniques he has developed. Following the lecture, he will be available to answer questions.
This lecture is free and open to the public.
About the artist
A recipient of Oakwood’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 2007, Talbot is an internationally known artist who finds inspiration for his work in the world around him. His works have been exhibited at the National Academy and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. His art has represented the United States overseas in exhibitions sponsored by the State Department and the Smithsonian Institution and is included in museum collections in the United States and Europe.
Talbot also is the author of “Collage: A New Approach” and “Acrylic Image Transfer: A Handbook for Artists.”
He also is a former Oakwood board member and parent of two Oakwood alumni, Loren ’91 and Garrett ’95. Along with his wife Marsha, he is a supporter of Oakwood Friends School and a champion for the arts in education.
