Test of Time' to headline Lobsterpalooza fundraiser

Warwick Hailing from Walden, the local band, “Test of Time,” will lead the live entertainment with their classic rock sounds at Christ Church’s “Lobsterpalooza” fundraiser, to be held from 2 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 16 at the Quality of Life Building, State School Rd., Warwick. The event will be held rain or shine, with indoor as well as outdoor seating, for a day of food, music and fun with family and friends. The Band “Test of Time” is comprised of two families and six members: Alec Scott, Beth Scott, Kevin Walker, Sue Walker, Mary Tree and Dan Walker. Formed in Walden, the group is multi-generational and eclectic in their musical tastes. The band met in the choir of St. Andrew’s Church in Walden, and after several years of performing together in the choir, Kevin Walker invited Alec and Beth Scott to perform at café night. Shortly thereafter, Kevin’s wife, Sue, joined in to add vocals and some light percussion. Over time, the band received two additions: Mary Tree, Beth’s oldest daughter, joined in on the vocals, percussion and guitar rhythms and John Walker, Kevin’s oldest son, added bass guitar and vocals, as well. The band performed without a name at several venues and continued to develop a repertoire of songs. Being a multi-generational group and playing decades of various music, the bandmates naturally settled on the name “Test of Time.” “We’re looking forward to playing at the Lobsterpalooza in June,” says Alec Scott. We got our start playing at events like this and we like being a part of charity and fundraising events.” Lobsterpalooza prides itself on its menu, which includes lobster or chicken, corn, potatoes, coleslaw and a 20-ounce bottle of choice of soda or water, followed by desserts. The day’s festivities will also include hourly raffles of substantial prizes from businesses around the community, games for kids of all ages, popcorn and cotton candy. Lobsterpalooza will raise needed funds for the work of Christ Church, which includes support for local outreach organizations such as Warwick Meals-On-Wheels, Warwick Food Pantry, Habitat for Humanity and St. Margaret’s Soup Kitchen. Lobsterpalooza tickets, $25 per plate in advance or $35 per plate the day of the event, may be purchased by calling the “Lobsterpalooza” Information and Reservation Hotline at 986-1774.
