Warwick —Hailing from Walden, the local band, “Test of Time,” will lead the live entertainment with their classic rock sounds at Christ Church’s June 16 “Lobsterpalooza” fundraiser, to be held at the Quality of Life Building on State School Road in Warwick, from 2 to 7 p.m. It will be held rain or shine, with indoor as well as outdoor seating. The band is comprised of two families and six members -- Alec Scott, Beth Scott, Kevin Walker, Sue Walker, Mary Tree, and Dan Walker. The band formed in Walden and is multi-generational and eclectic. The band met in the choir of St. Andrew’s Church in Walden and after several years of performing together in the choir, Kevin Walker invited Alec and Beth Scott to perform at the new Café. Time passed and another performance was planned, this time Kevin’s wife Sue joined in to add vocals and some light percussion. Another night of fun had passed and the Scott and Walker families began a weekly ritual of a bottle of wine, an evening meal, and a night of practicing different types of music ranging from the Beatles to country music. Over time, the band received two additions, Mary Tree, Beth’s oldest daughter joined in on the vocals, percussion and guitar rhythms, and John Walker, Kevin’s oldest son, added to the group bass guitar and vocals, as well. When introduced at the next Café night, the group, still having no name, was coined “Kevin’s friends.” The band continued to perform without a name at several venues and continued to develop a repertoire of songs. It wasn’t until the invitation to play at the Walden Harvest Festival that it became imperative to name the “group.” Overall the name was quite easy to come up with, being a multi-generational group and playing decades of various music, the band’s name is naturally “Test of Time.” “We’re looking forward to playing at the Lobsterpalooza in June. We got our start playing at events like this, and we like being a part of charity and fundraising events,” said band member Scott. Lobsterpalooza tickets are $25 per plate in advance or $35 per plate the day of the event.
