Teens play for festival at Bodles

Chester — Pat Mazo, owner of Bodles Opera House in Chester, has been hosting Kids Festivals since 2003. Maxo found that kids were coming to play at the Open Mike Nights on Thursdays to get experience in performing to a live audience. They were coming because it’s one of just a few venues that is family friendly. Eventually, there were enough acts to create a show just for them. Three local bands recently played at the Kids Festival on Sunday, Jan. 29. Before the doors opened, a long line of patrons formed outside in the rain. The show sold out, and a number of people had to be turned away. Silence No More, with Josh and Patrick Anghrer, Jimmy DiMarco and Jesse Mann, a newly formed band from Monroe, opened the show. Self-described as “Triple P: Poetic, Progressive, Punk,” Left to Chance did an energetic set of original music. The group is comprised of T. J. McFadden of Monroe, John Beischer of Warwick, and Whit Schuster and Zach Gioia of Cornwall. Wonder Brownie, with Steven and Andrew Friedman, and Miles Spillane, an established band from Monroe, offered a mix of styles with interpretations and originals. Both Wonder Brownie and Left to Chance have played at Bodle’s before. Left to Chance will play tonight, Friday, March 17, at the Chance Theatre Complex at Club Crannell in Poughkeepsie.
