Tchaikovsky at Great Gorge
VERNON-The composer Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky will be the focus of the Chamber Music at Great Gorge concert on Friday, June 24, at 8 p.m. Tchaikovsky, who wrote, among many works, the well-known "1812 Overture" and the music to the ballets "The Nutcracker" and "Swan Lake," shows his virtuosity as a romantic composer in his Piano Trio Opus 50, which will be performed by David Niwa, violinist, Eugene Moye, cellist and Gail Niwa, pianist. Also featured will be "Café Music" by American composer Paul Schoenfield. The other works on the program will be a movement from Messiaen's "Quartet for the End of Time" and one of the "Myths" for violin and piano by Szymanowski. The concert will take place at St. Francis de Sales Church on Route 517 in Vernon, N.J. Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $10 for students/seniors and $5 for children under the age of twelve.
