Take a bow
Chester Youth Theater registration begins in April Chester The new program in Chester will offer serious training to young students of theater, with the chance to mount a full production by summer’s end. The Chester Youth Theater’s six-week training program is for ages 14 to 21. It is holding registration at the Lycian Centre for the Performing Arts in Sugar Loaf from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, and from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 5. All artistic disciplines are involved in developing a production. The Chester Youth Theater, sponsored by the Town of Chester Parks and Recreation, aims to provide young people with an experience that will develop their confidence and sense of responsibility, teamwork, and community. Workshops and classes include acting, design and theatrical production. The classes will work on a production of short plays that will allow each student a role and offer challenges for the design and technical team. The classes, rehearsals, and production work start on July 7 and will be held three days a week for four hours each day. The performance, open to the public, will be held on Aug. 15 in the Lycian Centre’s Pavilion, a professional space with state-of-the-art equipment. The program includes two sessions during the six-week period. Up to 30 students can join. Students who enroll must plan to attend all six weeks. Call 469-7000 ext. 8.
