SUNY Orange to host recycling-friendly performers

Middletown The Paper Bag Players of New York City are coming to Orange Hall Theater at Orange County Community College on Sunday, Feb. 4, for a 2 p.m. matinee performance. Now in their forty-eighth year as a children’s theatre company, the performers are bringing their classic show of songs, skits and bright costumes, “Dandelion,” to entertain, educate, and enchant children and their families and friends. Another feature of the performance is live music played by pianist/ composer John Stone. Artistic Director/Choreographer Judith Martin packs comedy, adventure, music, movement, and audience participation into each performance which relates to everyday events in children’s lives. In addition, sets, props, and costumes are made of things and materials to which children have easy access such as boxes, paper, old clothes and household items. Attending a performance by the Paper Bag Players is an opportunity for children to experience first-rate live theatre. Tickets are priced at $4 children/students aged 3 to 16); $7 general public; $6 senior citizens/SUNY Orange alumni, faculty, staff; and free to SUNY Orange credit students. Reserved seat tickets may be purchased at the George F. Shepard Student Center between 9 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and until 4:30 p.m. on Fridays. In addition to the performance, children, families and friends are invited to come early at 1 p.m. to join in the fun of Hands on Learning, a projects exhibit presented by the Center for Teaching and Learning, which is free and open to the public.
