SUNY Orange to host poetry reading
Middletown Four poet-readers will gather in the Morrison Hall Mansion’s Music Room & Salon to present selections from an anthology entitled "In the Arms of Words: Poems for Disaster Relief." The reading will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24 as part of the Lyceum Series of Events, presented by Cultural Affairs at Orange County Community College. The event is free and open to the public. Morrison Hall Mansion, which is universally accessible, is located at 115 South St., in Middletown. The anthology is a compilation of individual works by over 90 poets worldwide, with contributions written in French, Spanish, Italian, Swedish and Serbian, as well as English. Notable contributors are Ravi Shankar, Brett Axel and Marilyn Chin. The poet-readers are Roberta Gould, Donald Lev, Mary Jo Martin and Amy Ouzoonian. Although Ouzoonian lives in Manhattan now, she is originally from the Town of Warwick and is a graduate of Orange County Community College. Ouzoonian has dedicated the book to the late James Lynch, Ph.D., a gifted and inspirational English professor who passed away in January of last year. A book signing will follow the readings.
