SUNY Orange jazz ensemble May 5 concert in Middletown
MIDDLETOWN The Arts and Communication Department at SUNY Orange announces a spring concert by the college’s jazz ensemble in Orange Hall Theater at 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 5. Under the direction of Dave Miele, the ensemble features musicians Michael Fitzsimmons, alto sax; Jeremy Girsch, trombone; Josh Fraley, trumpet; Abraham Schreiber, drums; Michael Garafallo, bass; Kevin Sheamon, bass; Matthew King, guitar and piano; and guitarists Damien Jackson, Matthew King, Miles McNicholas, Andrew Santory and Christopher Wilson. The group will perform a variety of selections, including Miles Davis’ “So What” and “Swing Spring”; John Coltrane’s “Syceeda’s Song Flute” and “Equinox”; and Herbie Hancock’s “Cantaloupe Island.” The performance is free and open to the general public. Donations to support the Arts and Communication Department’s music scholarship program will gladly be accepted. Orange Hall Theater, located in Orange Hall, is universally accessible.
