SUNY Orange hosts piano recital

MIDDLETOWN — Award-winning pianist Ilya Yakushev will be in recital on Sunday, Nov. 18, at 3 p.m., at Orange Hall Theatre on the Middletown campus of SUNY Orange.
A native of St. Peterburg, Russia, he performs solo and with orchestras on three continents and also is the executive director of the International Keyboard Institute & Festival at Mannes College of Music in New York City.
American Record Guide wrote: “Yakushev is one of the very best young pianists before the public today, and it doesn’t seem to matter what repertoire he plays – it is all of the highest caliber.”
The recital on Sunday will include Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition;” Beethoven’s “Moonlight” Piano Sonata; and a Ballade, a Polonaise, and two Mazurkas by Chopin.
Yakushev played Orange Hall Theatre in a solo recital in April 2006; he’s also played with the Delaware Valley Chamber Orchestra in October 2004.
Tickets will be on sale at the Orange Hall box office starting at 2 p.m. on the afternoon of the performance, plus online anytime at www.sunyorange.edu.
Admission is $12 adults; $10 senior citizens, alumni, faculty, staff; free–all students.
Orange Hall is located at the corner of Wawayanda and Grandview avenues, Middletown.
