Admissions Workshop, April 28 Discover the many academic opportunities available at SUNY Orange by attending an admissions information workshop at 2 p.m. Monday, April 28, in the George F. Shepard Student Center, 115 South St., Middletown. RSVP online by clicking the “Admissions Event RSVP” link under the “Admissions” header at www.sunyorange.edu. Jazz Ensemble Concert, April 29 The SUNY Orange Jazz Ensemble will perform at 8 p.m. in Orange Hall Theater. The ensemble, under the direction of Dave Miele, will include music by Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Hank Mobley and Wes Montgomery. Admission is by donation to the College’s music scholarship fund. Symphonic Band Concert, May 3 The SUNY Orange Symphonic Band, under the direction of Kevin Scott, will perform its final spring at 8 p.m. in Middletown’s Paramount Theater. The concert theme “Mexico’s Influence on American Composers” is offered in conjunction with the College’s “Global Initiative: Latin America.” Admission is $5. Chamber Ensemble Concert, May 4 The SUNY Orange Chamber Ensemble will perform at 3 p.m. in the Music Room of Morrison Hall. Admission is free. On the Horizon: Community Orchestra Concert, May 10 The SUNY Orange Community Orchestra will perform a concert at 8 p.m. in Middletown’s historic Paramount Theatre. The orchestra, under the direction of Hilarie Clark Moore, will showcase music by Vaughan Williams, Johannes Brahms and Sergei Prokofiev. In addition, the orchestra will perform the “world premiere” of “Azure Island for Orchestra,” a piece written by Washingtonville’s Jared Cowing and dedicated to the orchestra.
