‘Sundays in July' offers free music and poetry

    Sugar Loaf — The second annual Music and Poetry Series will be held every “Sunday in July” in the Sculpture Garden at the Bertoni Gallery at 1392 Kings Highway in Sugar Loaf. On Sunday, July 2, original poetry will be read by Donald Lev, William Seaton, Ken Van Rensselear, and Phillip Lavine at noon, Rob Curtis: will play acoustic music at 1 p.m., Jeremy “Big J” Langdale will play acoustic blues at 2 p.m., and Bill Davis will offer indie/acoustic originals) at 4 p.m. On Sunday, July 9, original poetry will be read by Jim Kenny, Ada Hunter, Mike Jurkovic, and Marnie McCasland at 1 p.m., The Utopian Bend will offer world-fusion at 2 p.m., and Jamie Barr will offer acoustic originals at 4 p.m. On Sunday, July 16, Crawlspace will play blues rock at 12:30 p.m., the John Bendy Band will offer a fusion of blues and rock at 2 p.m., and Sarah Morr will play her hypnotic acoustic originals at 4 p.m. On Sunday, July 23, Barbara Adams, Samuel Claiborne, and Phil Linz will read their poetry at 1 p.m., Ariel will play acoustic folk pop music at 2 p.m., and Maryanne Marino will offer acoustic folk pop at 4 p.m. On Sunday, July 30, poetry will be offered by Lou O’Neil, Teresa Marta Costa, and Raul Maldonado at 1 p.m., and Melody McDowell will play jam rock at 2 p.m. There will be a drum circle at 3:30 p.m., and participants should bring their own percussion instruments. Nefara’s Wish will follow, with rock originals at 5 p.m. New friendships can be forged, listening to local musicians and poets. It is suggested to bring a blanket, a picnic lunch, and even the kids.
