WARWICK — On Sunday, Sept. 13, at 5 p.m, Pacem in Terris will host The Serenade Quartet, featuring violinists Krista Bennion Feeney and Keats Dieffenbach, David Cerutti on the viola and John Feeney on bass.

This will mark the last concert of the 2015 Chamber Music Season.

The program will include works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Joseph Haydn, Johannes Brahms, Franz Schubert and Joseph Lanner.

All four musicians of the Serenade Quartet are leading artists in NYC and abroad in both historical and contemporary music. They perform together in the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, the American Classical Orchestra and numerous other ensembles.

Historical instrumentsThis configuration of instruments was the most popular small ensemble for playing the social music of late eighteenth and early nineteenth century Vienna, Salzburg and throughout the continent.

Mozart, Joseph and Michael Haydn, Sperger, Lanner, Strauss, Schubert and so many more prized the unique rhythmic punctuation, range, clarity and resonance of the double bass as the sole stringed basso instrument in this music.

The performers play with the same historical instruments originally used to play this music, imbuing it with warmth and intimacy of expression and reveling in the “schwung” that bridges and unites two centuries of fascination with whirling dances in triple time.
