SUGAR LOAF — Sugar Loaf United Methodist Church is inviting all of the community, two-legged, four-legged, winged, scaled or gilled to its Blessings of the Animals on Saturday, Oct. 14, from 3 to 4 p.m.
The blessing will be at the church located at 1387 Kings Highway in the Hamlet of Sugar Loaf.
"God created the earth and everything in it, including the animals of the land, sea and air," said Pastor Susan Chupungco in the press release detailing the event. "For many, animals are more than pets and hold a special place in our lives as members of our family. This event is an opportunity to thank God for the gift of animals and to ask for a special blessing for the animals that enrich our lives in so many ways."
There will be a short service, followed by refreshments for the two-legged and four-legged guests. Each pet will receive an individual blessing and a certificate.
Joining the heart-warming event again this year with some of the animals available for adoption will be the Warwick Valley Humane Society. Cleaning supplies (paper towels, paper plates, dish detergent, bleach, Science Diet dry adult dog and cat food, large dog biscuits, ceramic cat dishes, cap nip, cat beds and medical supplies (Hydrogen Peroxide, alcohol, cotton balls and Q-tips) are the donations requested to attend the event. Donated items and any proceeds will go to supporting this wonderful organization.
All dogs must be on a leash and any other pets must be caged.
