Students compete in Olympics of the Visual Arts

GOSHEN Students from Goshen High School recently competed in the Annual New York State Art Teachers Association Olympics of the Visual Arts at the Saratoga Springs City Center in Saratoga Springs. The students entered pieces in six categories: painting, drawing, illustration, graphic design and fashion design. The students presented long-term projects that they had worked on for the past two months during class and after school. The winners included: Vanessa Foerster, first place for sculpture; Taylor Knoblock, Mike Matyus, and Victor Pasaran, first place for drawing; Brittany Greener, Nicole Caruso, Alex Baca, Jesika Schoonmaker, Alyssa Foerster, and Jahdeen Williams, most creative for industrial design; and Kate Bischof, third place for fashion design. The competition provides an opportunity for students to participate in individual or group artistic problem solving. Students create long-range solutions at their schools, and compete on short-range problems in a day-long celebration of creativity. The 2006 Goshen High School Olympics of the Visual Arts team members were: Alexa Janac, Sheila Corrigan, Brittany Greener, Claudia Canales, Victor Pasaran, Kelly Fleming, Mike Matys, Alex Baca, Alyssa Foerster, Alex Worth, Jesika Schoonmaker, Catherine Arciero, Senada Mamaduski, Kristina Dodge, Jahdeen Williams, Taylor Knoblock, Nicole Caruso, and Kate Bischof.
