TUXEDO — There isn't much time left to climb atop the Sterling Forest tower before it closes for the season.
Hikes can visit the tower between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. through Labor Day.
The tower is located on the highest summit of Sterling Ridge, near the junction of the Fire Tower Trail and the Sterling Ridge/Highlands Trail.
From the cab, visitors can enjoy a 360-degree view of the parklands immediately surrounding the tower, as well as view of the more distant Schunemunk and Catskill Mountains.
The tower is listed on the National Lookout Historic Register as well as the Federal Register of Historic Places.
