Sterling Forest State Park announces fall events

    Sterling Forest —The hike of the month will be History Hike on Iona Island, at noon on Sunday, Nov. 5. Participants will explore the history of Iona Island Sanctuary. The meeting place is the Iona Island parking area at by the railroad crossing. This will be a moderate four mile hike. Trails can be steep and rocky, so wear sturdy hiking shoes. As always hikes will include stops along the way to interpret natural and historic features. Hikes are led at the pace of the slowest hiker. At 7 p.m., on Thursday, Nov. 9, guest lecturer Linda Zimmerman will talk about ghost investigators. She will tell visitors what it is like to be a ghost hunter and will talk about people whose life has been changed by spirits, with special attention to local mysterious happenings.
