— The Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center will be throwing a New Year's Eve party that cannot be missed. Cyro Baptista and his band, Beat the Donkey, will be performing on Dec. 31 at 8 p.m. to kick off this party with high-paced, exhilarating Brazilian drumming. Followed by an after party with a cash bar, free buffet, champagne toast, and more, this party will be the talk of 2013.

Baptista is a world-renowned Brazilian drummer and has become known as one of the premier percussionists in the country. He has partnered with some of music's greatest artists including, Yo-Yo Ma, Sting and Paul Simon. Baptista rejects the rigid structure of traditional drumming and, in protest, paved a path of new wave percussion in which he creates many of his own instruments. Baptista's radical ideas soon formed into the creation of Beat the Donkey, which comes from the Brazilian expression "pau na mula" meaning "Let's go, let s do it!

Paul Ellis, , states, "A great show, cash bar, buffet, countdown party and all for $50," said Paul Ellis, interim executive director at SLPAC. "This is going to be the party that people will be kicking themselves in 2013 for missing!"
