Warwick - Father Patrick Buckley, parochial vicar of the Church of St. Stephen, the First Martyr, and an avid New York Met’s fan, challenges all Yankee fans or anyone else to pitch the ball that will drop him into a tank filled with cold water. And if he is not your favorite target, you also have an opportunity to come to this week’s St. Stephen’s Parish Bazaar and dunk Mayor Michael Newhard, Police Chief Thomas McGovern or any number of other good sports. The St. Stephen’s Parish Bazaar, just off West St. Extension and County Route 1, opened Thursday, June 1, and will run through this Sunday, June 4. The popular event, fun for young and old, features games, rides and entertainment including a live band this Friday night and Las Vegas style games of chance every night. And stop by Friday evening and take a Re/Max tethered hot air balloon ride. Visitors can also enjoy a selection of homemade and international foods including Italian, Polish and other ethnic specialties. Look for the flags. The children’s matinee is on Saturday from 3-5 p.m. and on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. when the kids can take advantage of a discount bracelet for all rides. The Senior Citizen Café, open Sunday from 1-3 p.m., will feature entertainment by Irish step dancers. “This is an important fundraiser for the Parish,” said Buckley, “but more important, it’s a wonderful opportunity for all the people in our community to get together and enjoy a traditional event.”
