St. Stephen's Parish Bazaar scheduled for May 31 to June 3

Warwick - Yankee fans will have an opportunity to prove that Father Patrick Buckley, an avid Mets fan, is literally “all wet.” All they have to do is pitch the strike that will drop him into a tank filled with cold water. Besides Buckley, parochial vicar of the Church of St, Stephen, the First Martyr, other good sports, including public officials, have also volunteered to be soaked for a good cause. The annual St. Stephen’s Parish Bazaar, at Sanfordville Road and County 1, begins Thursday evening, May 31, and runs through Sunday, June 3. The popular event, featuring fun events for both young and old, will offer games, rides, live entertainment, Las Vegas style games of chance and, on Saturday, a ride in a Re/Max tethered hot air balloon. There are plenty of exciting “Midway” rides for the youngsters and special children’s games and activities. One price discount tickets will pay for all rides on Thursday night and Sunday afternoon. In addition to the DJ on Thursday and Saturday, the popular local band, “Reflections,” will provide live entertainment Saturday evening. Visitors can choose from a selection of homemade and international foods like authentic Polish Sausage (Kielbasa) from the Quaker Creek Store in Pine Island, or relax at an outdoor café serving specialty coffees and desserts. Funds raised by the annual Bazaar are used to support the Church, St. Stephen’s - St. Edward’s School and religious education programs. Raffle tickets also play a major role in the bazaar’s success. “This is a wonderful opportunity for people in our community to get together and enjoy this traditional fun event,” said Buckley. “We welcome everyone.” Volunteers are still needed. Anyone interested in helping out at the annual bazaar should call the church office at 986-4028.
