GOSHEN-The students at St. John School in Goshen held a dress down day at the end of April to raise money for the people in Deer Park who were flooded out of their homes by the recent storm. They raised $1200 and purchased gift certificates for use at Wal-Mart and Shoprite, which were delivered to the town along with other needed things such as blankets and paper towels. During Lent of 2005, the children in grades 1 to 3 held a Hop-a-thon to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. They raised $3,100. The sixth-graders collected new baby clothes for Siena House, a women's/baby shelter located in the Bronx. Grades 7 and 8 collected coloring books and crayons for a pre-K in the inner city, in Tolentine Parish. Grade 5 raised almost $200 for the tsunami victims and sent it to Catholic Relief Services. The 4th grade raised $175 to help send a sick child to Lourdes, France.
