Sprucing up Warwick's history

Warwick - There’s been quite a bit of activity this summer on Main Street in Warwick as the Historical Society spruced up two of it’s buildings: the Baird Tavern and the 1810 House. The Tavern has been undergoing repointing for a while and this will continue into the fall. Recently, however, the building received a new coat of paint on its trim and new shutters. Not to be outshone, the 1810 House down Main Street on the edge of Lewis Park received a face-lift that included new paint on the clapboard and trip in a new color and new shutters. The buildings will be shown off to the public on Saturdays for the remainder of September from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Four of the Historical Society buildings will be open on Saturdays this month and all are within walking distance of Main Street. A Historical Society docent will be in each building to tell visitors about Warwick’s heritage and the role these buildings and the collections displayed within played in building Warwick. The buildings are: • Baird Tavern: 105 Main St. (next to Key Bank). • The 1810 House: 80 Main St. (across from the Village Hall). • The Shingle House: 7 Forester Ave. (near Church Street). • Ketchum House: 26 Church St. (near the corner of Forester).
