Sonando brings its Latin sound to Railroad Green on Aug. 12

Warwick - There has been such a range of music this summer at the Village Summer Concert Series. The New York Swing Exchange got the music started in June, followed by the incredible jazz sounds of Mark Egan and Jeff Ciampa. The Warwick Summer Arts Festival brought some great music here, too. First, Quetzal, Chicano, and Cuban music was featured at the Scheuermann Farms and Greenhouses in Pine Island. Cherish the Ladies, a Celtic music group, charmed the audience, followed by Luminescent Orchestra, which performed Appalachian and Gypsy music at Stanley-Deming Park. On Aug. 12, the Village of Warwick welcomes back Sonando. The group has earned a reputation as the Hudson Valley’s premier Latin band. The group has performed in clubs, community festivals, benefit concerts, on radio and television, as well as at the Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York City. But bring your dancing shoes. It might be difficult to sit in your seat while Sonando plays. Last year, the group was a huge hit, drawing the biggest crowd of the summer series. “It really was great fun last year,” said Bill Iurato, village trustee and liaison to the summer concert series. This year, before the concert begins, there will be Latin dance lessons from Maria Gutierrez, director of La Montiel Dance, which is located at the Warwick Community Center. “Come on out and bring a chair,” added Iurato. Although, if the concert is anything like it was last year, you won’t be sitting much. On Aug. 19, the Ramapo Mountain Boys will bring their bluegrass sounds to the Railroad Green. Kyle Hancharick, a local folk musician, will open for the band. On Sept. 10, the Big Band Swing Machine featuring Dick Wells will close out the series with an afternoon concert at 3 p.m. on the Railroad Green. The festivities are free and the music starts at 7:30 p.m. on the Railroad Green. The concert series is made possible by donations from Brass Rose Inn B&B, Techni-Growers Greenhouses, The Demarest Hotel, Warwick Valley B&B, Jonah Mandelbaum, Mary Woodruff Bradner, Kennedy Companies, Inc., Claudia Vaccaro Real Estate, Sanford & Son, Inc., Paul Manza, The Bank of New York, and Bonacic, LoBiondo, & Krahulik, LLP.
