MONTGOMERY — The Orange County Snow Tubing and Winter Sports Park will open Friday, Dec. 27 — conditions and weather permitting.

Located at Thomas Bull Memorial Park on Route 416 in Montgomery, the park offers great cold weather fun for the whole family.

“Snow tubing at Orange County Park has become one of the County’s most popular winter time attractions,” said County Executive Edward Diana. “It’s fun, affordable, and close to home. If you’ve never been, don’t let another winter pass without checking it out. One thrilling run down the hill and you’ll wonder why you waited so long to visit the park in winter. Best of all, you get a lift back up the hill!”

The 800-foot snow tubing hill features two cable lifts, groomed lanes, and tubes built for SPEED. The fee is $13 per county resident for a one-and-a-half-hour tubing session, and $18 for non-county residents. Proof of residency is required at check-in. Tubers must meet a minimum height requirement of 42 inches.

The park also features an ice skating rink, sledding hill, and cross-country ski trails. These activities are free, with participants providing their own equipment, and available as conditions permit. Call the parks department ahead of time at 457-4949 or 457-4910 ahead to see if these activities are available.

The Graham M. Skea Lodge, at the crest of the tubing hill, offers views of the Hudson Valley, a concession/restaurant, and large stone fireplace. It’s a great place to warm up or watch the tubers. Birthday party packages and youth group bookings are available.
