GREENWOOD LAKE — At the St. Patrick’s dinner dance, held Saturday evening, March 9, the Greenwood Lake Gaelic Cultural Society presented the Irish singer Maire McVicker with its 2013 Emerald Award.

McVicker was born and raised in Ireland. As a teenager, she and her family immigrated to the United States. However, her roots and love for the traditions of Ireland did not fade. She and her parents have been leaders and supporters for “Project Children” over the years. As such, much of her music has helped the Project Children organization in many ways.

Denis Mulcahy, the new president of the Gaelic Society, made the presentation during ceremonies at the American Legion Post 1443 in Greenwood Lake.
