Sewing classes available at Fruition

Sugar Loaf Fruition in Sugar Loaf is offering sewing classes for people on every skill level. Linda Gargano, Fruition’s owner and sewing instructor, who has been sewing for 40 years, has been a vocational instructor who taught life skills and sewing to patients attending continuing day treatment facilities. Each class can accommodate up to five people so participant gets hands-on instruction. Each month, the sewing projects reflect the season or holidays and most often include such patterns as handbags, dolls, aprons, children’s clothes or other apparel. “I try to make the class projects relevant to the time of year in case people might like to give their projects as gifts or use or display them immediately,” said Gargano. “This is a fun hobby and I want the classes to be a fun experience, where people come away with the satisfaction of having made something with their own two hands and with a skill that they can use for a lifetime.” Classes consist of two, two-hour sessions and start at $35 per class and are available in the afternoons or evenings, Fruition provides the sewing machines, as well as patterns and fabric, although once participants build their skill levels, they often bring their own fabrics. Participants may also wish to bring in their own sewing machine to a class to get help learning to use their own machine. For more information, call Gargano at 610-3523.
