Sculpture master class with found artifacts at SUNY Orange

| 25 Sep 2013 | 09:28

— Sculptor Fay Wood shares her insight into creating with found artifacts in her master class on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013. Entitled "Found pieces - Reworked into Sculpture," the event starts at 7 p.m. in Orange Hall Gallery Fringe, is free and open to the public.

Visualizing beyond the obvious, Wood looks at objects not as discards or trash, but as items with which to pursue a new course. Then, using a meticulous, process-oriented approach to her sculpture, she gives a variety of materials that she has found — metal, wood, wire, paper, paint, jewelry — new life by transforming them into art.

Come and enjoy learning from this artist during the master class when she discusses her thinking behind the composing of a piece of sculpture.

Orange Hall is located at the corner of Wawayanda and Grandview Avenues, on the Middletown campus of Orange County Community College. For more information, go to www.sunyorange.edu/culturalaffairs, call 845-341-4891 or email cultural@sunyorange.edu;
