PINE ISLAND — Some of the most distinguished chefs in the Warwick Valley will join forces with the Pine Island Chamber of Commerce on Aug. 6 for the 2013 Black Dirt Fest.
This celebration of local farmers and restaurateurs pairs a five-course al fresco meal with wines on the great lawn of Scheuermann Farms & Greenhouses. Guests sit at tablescapes of linens, china and crystal as they bask in the sunset of the Black Dirt Region amid live music.
“This is the fifth anniversary of the Black Dirt Feast and we are looking forward to another successful farm to table affair,” said Chamber President John Redman. “Because this popular event sells out quickly, we encourage everyone to follow us on Facebook and Twitter, and visit PineIslandNY.com often for all the latest ticket and event information.”
The Black Dirt Feast, which is hosted by the Pine Island Chamber of Commerce, benefits the local community. The 5,500 acre “Black Dirt” region, which is known for its rich soil deposited by melting glaciers, is home to numerous farms whose products are served on family tables and at fine restaurants throughout the region and regularly sold at the Union Square Farmers Market in New York City.
The Black Dirt Feast showcases the produce from local farms and the award-winning chefs who utilize them.
