Salvation Army kicks off Red Kettle Campaign Nov. 15
Middletown The Salvation Army of Middletown will hold its 15 annual Kettle Campaign Kickoff Breakfast on Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Southwinds at Fulton Square, 70 Fulton St., Middletown. John J. “Jack” McMahon, has been named Honorary Chairperson for the annual holiday campaign. McMahon was selected because of his commitment to the local community through many years of service through the Middletown Fire Department, Orange County Community College and numerous charitable organizations. The red kettles of the Salvation Army are a familiar sight during the holiday season, as community volunteers assist with this traditional fundraising effort. Kettles will be manned and bells will start ringing at various retail locations in the Middletown/Town of Wallkill area on Friday, Nov. 16. “Campaign proceeds will benefit the community through the programs of the Salvation Army, including providing funding for emergency situations and transportation, crisis intervention and youth programs, and distribution of food and clothing to the needy and homeless,” said Major Donald Spencer, commanding officer of the Middletown Salvation Army. “We’re thankful for the support we receive annually from this community.” The breakfast chairperson is Sue D. Sheehan, of Orange Community College and past chair, and present member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board. Orange County Trust Company is underwriting the cost of this years Kettle Campaign Kick-Off Breakfast. Tickets for the breakfast are $15 and can be purchased by calling the Salvation Army at 343-0821.
