GOSHEN — Orange-Ulster BOCES Goshen Campus will host a forum on safe teen driving sponsored by the “Not One More Committee of Orange County” on Wednesday, April 9 beginning at 7 p.m. Local high school students, their parents and interested members of the general public are encouraged to attend this presentation in the Emanuel Axelrod Education Center. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for various displays and demonstrations. “The Not One More” safe driving campaign was initiated in the Fall 2006 by the Times Herald-Record as a result of too many vehicular fatalities and injuries involving young people in the region. Since that time, several local agencies, working collaboratively, have brought attention to the tragedies through public forums, activities in the high schools and the availability of a driving simulator for students to practice their driving skills. The mission of the “Not One More” Committee is to develop a comprehensive education program that promotes safe teen driving, such that Not One More high school student is seriously injured or killed as a driver or passenger in a vehicle. Monroe-Woodbury and Hudson Valley PTAs, Cornwall PTO and local high school principals are also playing critical roles in the Not One More initiatives. Other participants include Orange County Government, Orange County Traffic Safety Board and the Times Herald-Record. For more information, call Wilson at 291-0120.
