Safe Harbors to host Ann Street Market
NEWBURGH Safe Harbors of the Hudson will be hosting its annual Ann Street Market to celebrate the revival of Newburghs Downtown area.
Vendors are being sought for the event, to be held from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4.
The Ann Street Market brings fresh local food, art and music to Newburgh each year. This festival features a flea market, fresh flowers, antiques, arts and crafts, food vendors, and activities for children.
Live music throughout the day will include William Prez Bush and the Dan Brother Band, sponsored by and performing on the roof of The Wherehouse. More acts will be announced soon.
The event is free and open to the public, and will take place in the vacant lot on the southwest corner of Broadway and Liberty Streets (next to the Ritz Theater). In case of rain, the market will be held inside the Ritz Theater Lobby at 107 Broadway.
Safe Harbors needs local farms and farmers, food purveyors, artists, artisans, and musicians to participate. Vendor spaces cost $25 each and all proceeds benefit Safe Harbors' programming throughout the year. Incorporated in 2000, Safe Harbors is a nonprofit organization committed to transforming lives and building communities through housing and the arts in Newburgh.
In conjunction with the market, there will be a new art exhibit opening at the Ann Street Gallery from 6 to 9 p.m. featuring work by local photographer Dmitri Kasterine. The exhibit inside the gallery is titled "People and Places, 1955-2011," and the open-air exhibit on the outside wall of the Ritz Theater is titled "Newburgh: Portrait of a City." There will be music and food to celebrate the opening of these exhibits.
The Ann Street Gallery is located at 104 Ann Street, Newburgh. For more information visit www.annstreetgallery.com
