Roberta Gould to read her poetry

Middletown Poetry on the Loose will feature the poet Roberta Gould, reading her work, at 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 6 Orchard St. in Middletown. An open reading will follow, where audience members may perform original work on any theme. Gould’s poetry has been described as “varied in theme, concise and musical.” Her work has appeared in several anthologies, and in such literary journals as Green Mountain Review, Pacific Coast Journal, Confrontation, Borderlands, and others. Her most recent book of poetry, “In Houses With Ladders,” was published in 2002, and her eighth book “Pacing the Wind” will be out in the fall. Gould was editor of “Light: A Poetry Review, Group 74,” and is a member of Pen, Amnesty International, The Haitian People’s Support Project, and the Committee in Solidarity with the People of Latin America. She has lived and studied in Mexico, where her books “Esta Naranja” (written in Spanish) and “Not By Blood Alone” were published. She is currently editing her ninth book of poems.
