River, Rural and Rail': Show celebrates father and sons artists

West Haverstraw The exhibition “River, Rural and Rail,” featuring the artwork of John Fleming Gould (1906-1996) and his sons William and Paul Gould is now on view through Jan. 31 at Helen Hayes Hospital in West Haverstraw. The show, hosted by the Bethlehem Art Gallery, combines the illustrations and historical art of John Gould with the photography and Hudson Valley art of William and Paul. John Gould’s art reveals the history of the Hudson River Valley and its railroads in pen and ink and in full color originals. Giclee prints of the artist’s work will also be on view. All are available for purchase. Photographer William Gould presents his giclee print collection of still-life New England seacoast and Hudson River Valley scenes. Storm King Mountain near West point and Cornwall, as well as the Erie Trestle of Salisbury Mills, will highlight the show. Paul Gould, the youngest of the sons of John and Mary Gould, is an artist of landscapes and still life in both the United States and Europe. His work features his popular Hudson River scenes of West Point and European landscapes of Ireland, France, Portugal, and Italy. Son Robert Gould has produced the show. The year 2007 marks the 50th anniversary of the Bethlehem Art Gallery by John and Mary Gould in 1957 in the town of Cornwall. The gallery is presently located at 58 Orrs Mills Road in Salisbury Mills. The exhibit will be open during regular hospital visiting hours on the main floor lobby. There is no admission charge.
