New Windsor — The Stewart Park and Reserve Coalition (SPARC) will celebrate its victory in the courts with a trail ride on Sunday, May 7, starting out from the Stewart State Forest Ridge Road parking area. The park opens 8:30 a.m., and the first ride out is at 9 a.m. The last ride out is at 11 a.m. This benefit trail ride will help retire the coalition’s legal debt. The coalition won additional land, with a total of 7,000 acres being preserved as Stewart State Forest. The marked riding trails are “Smooth ‘n Easy” or “Rough ‘n Ready.” Participants may also choose to take a scenice tour of the lands by horse-drawn wagon, which leaves at 11 a.m. Free Product Samples and free Carrots for your horses will be available. The requested donation for riders is $15, $20, or $30. The wagon ride costs $20. Lunches can be ordered for $6 extra, and soft drinks, coffee and brownies will be available as well.
