Rick Derringer brings his ‘Hoochie Koo' to Bodles

Chester — Rick Derringer will be playing at Bodles Opera House in Chester on Friday, Feb. 3. The Fox Radio Event will begin at 9 p.m. with “The Flying Jalapenos” opening the show. Derringer was just 17 when his band “The McCoys” recorded the No. 1 hit “Hang On Sloopy.” He merged his talents with Johnny Winter in 1969. His solo album “All American Boy” was released in 1973 with the popular “Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo.” Derringer has appeared on numerous albums, with artists such as Alice Cooper, Richie Havens, Todd Rundgren, Steely Dan, Cyndi Lauper, Barbra Streisand, and Kiss. Derringer discovered Weird Al Yancovic, and produced music for Grammy-winning albums and videos. Hulk Hogan’s theme song, “I Am A Real American” was written and performed by Derringer).
