Richard Kimball to play solo at Utopian Direction

Warwick — Pianist Richard Kimball will appear in concert at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Utopian Direction Book Store as part of the second annual Warwick Jazz Festival. The program, titled "American Accents," will feature Kimball's own works, “Chaconne for my sons” and “Prelude and Fugue for the Survivors” (of Hurricane Katrina), along with some favorites from his original repertoire of American and Brazilian pieces, including Herbie Hancock’s “Maiden Voyage” and a new composition, “Dança de Roda.” There will also be new interpretations and reconstructions of standard tunes from both Brazilian and American music history. The bookstore is at 7 West St. Seating is limited. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Tickets are $20 and can only be reserved online at richardkimball@optonline.net.
