Rhoades to read at Poetry on the Loose
Middletown Sally Rhoades will read her original work at the next Poetry on the Loose event. The program will begin at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 6 Orchard St. (at Main) in Middletown. Her presentation will be followed by an open reading during which anyone may participate. Rhoades’ poems have been published in the High Watermark Salo(o)n Series, Peer Glass (an anthology of Hudson Valley poets), The Champion and on-line at Swankwriting.com. She writes plays as well: her “Moon over Manhattan” was performed as a Staged Reading at Johnstown’s Colonial Little Theatre last month. Her talents extend to movement, too; her poetry and dance performances have been applauded in Albany, New York City, Montreal, Chicago, and Seattle. She received her M.A. at The University of Albany where she studied women’s contemporary poetry and theatre. The Poetry on the Loose Reading/Performance series is supported this year with funding from Orange Arts/Orange County Tourism and the County of Orange.
