West Point — The United States Military Academy Band’s Chamber Recital Series will feature Staff Sgt. Jason D. Ham on euphonium at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, at West Point’s Jewish Chapel. Ham will present some inspired pieces, including Jacques Casterede’s “Fantasie Concertante” and Martin Ellerby’s “Euphonium Concerto,” which has arguably been the most challenging work in the euphonium repertoire since its composition in 1997. Accompanying Ham will be Hanako Yamagata, a freelance pianist from New York City. The West Point Trombone Quartet will join in Maurice Bale’s arrangement of Claude Debussy’s “Girl with the Flaxen Hair.” The event is free. Allow extra travel time for vehicle and photo identification inspection. For concert information, cancellations and updates, call the 24-hour hotline at 938-2617, or visit www.usma.edu/band.
