Recital of American paino music set for Dec. 3

Middletown - Cornwall resident Ruthanne Schempf will give a piano recital that encompasses a wide variety of American composers - Gershwin, Nevin, Foote, MacDowell, Griffes, Joplin, Beach, Aufderheide, Giblin, Anderson and Copland - on Sunday, Dec. 3, at 3 p.m. in Orange Hall Theater at SUNY Orange. Tickets are: $7 adults; $5 senior citizens, alumni, faculty and staff; free for all students. Schempf holds a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in piano from Manhattan School of Music. She is on the faculties of SUNY New Paltz, and Marist College in Poughkeepsie. She also is a co-founder of the Hudson Valley Society for Music which produces an annual BachFest weekend and Potluck chamber music concerts during the year. This is the final Lyceum performance in 2006. Orange Hall is located at the corner of Wawayanda and Grandview Avenues, Middletown.
