Polka dance in Pine Island on Nov. 11

Pine Island — The Hudson Valley Polonaise Society is planning an autumn polka dance at the Polish Legion of American Veterans hall in Pine Island from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11. Performing at the dance is John Stevens’ Doubleshot, which has been playing polka music since 1995. The band has toured all over the Eastern seaboard and out west, from the Bethlehem Musikfest in Pennsylvania to the Pulaski Big Polka Celebration in Wisconsin. The band has also received awards for its songwriting. “Our main goal is to promote polka music to the younger generation and get them involved with this great music, polka music,” Stevens said. Tickets are $12; children under 16 accompanied by an adult will be admitted free. Food will be available. Tickets will be available at the door.
